Something special is taking shape in Delft. Behind the scenes, work is underway on one of the most ambitious theatre productions in the Netherlands: Willem van Oranje De Musical. A spectacle that brings together history, innovation and emotion.
And deep beneath the stage, Inducon from Beilen plays an invisible yet essential role.
The heart of the engineering
For this extraordinary production, Inducon is developing a movable floor that quite literally sets the story in motion. This floor can move up and down and forms the foundation of the dynamic stage setting. It is a technical achievement where innovation, safety and aesthetics come together, exactly what Inducon stands for.
“Building movable swimming pool floors is our daily work,” says Jan Veldhuizen, Managing Director of Inducon. “But in this project we add something extra. The floor is dynamically loaded, with actors, props and even… It is technology that moves along with the story.”
More than a project
The collaboration between Inducon and the producers of Willem van Oranje shows what becomes possible when engineering and creativity strengthen one another. What began as a challenging idea evolved into a technical masterpiece where precision, passion and imagination come together.
The project symbolises what Inducon stands for: Fluid Technology, Fluid Passion. A company that not only delivers technical solutions, but brings creative visions to life.
Building toward the premiere
In the coming weeks, we will take you behind the scenes of this impressive project. From the first sketches to the installation of the floor in the theatre in Delft. We will show how engineering, craftsmanship and passion come together to make this royal spectacle possible.
Our vision: what drives Inducon
The hall is dark and silent. Then the stage begins to move. A floor that not only provides support, but becomes part of the story. It looks as if it belongs there. As if it happens effortlessly. Yet behind that apparent simplicity lies a world of engineering, courage and craftsmanship.
That is exactly where Inducon feels at home.
A first look behind the new Prinsen Theater
To truly grasp the scale and ambition of this project, we are sharing an exclusive 3D visualisation of the new Prinsen Theater in Delft. This theatre is being built specifically for the musical Willem van Oranje and will soon become the stage where our movable floor plays a central, yet invisible, role.
The video shows the earliest artistic sketches of both the story and the stage. You can see how ideas take shape and how the theatre design gradually comes to life. For our team, this was the moment when it became clear just how remarkable this production would be. Engineering and creativity coming together seamlessly.
This animation gives a first impression of the world in which our floor will operate. A world where movement becomes part of the narrative and where technology forms the foundation for the audience experience.
When engineering becomes more than function
When the creators of the musical Willem van Oranje were looking for a way to elevate the spectacle, they turned to Inducon. They were not searching for a standard solution, but for something that seemed almost impossible. Something that had to be both safe and dynamic.
A floor that would not only support, but also move. All while thousands of people each night will never see what happens beneath it.
It was a question that fit perfectly with the Inducon mindset.
A new project. A unique application. Not discouraged by complexity, but inspired by what might become possible.
The thought “yes, we can do this”
Within the team, the reaction was almost immediately positive. The knowledge and experience were there. The drive to create something extraordinary as well. This was a challenge that called for courage, creativity and technical ingenuity. And above all, for the mindset that is typically Inducon: not simply delivering what is asked, but delivering what is truly needed.
Clients come to Inducon because they want more than functional engineering. They look for a partner who thinks along with them. A partner who looks beyond the question on paper. Someone who is flexible, solution oriented and willing to go the extra mile. Inducon seeks out those clients as well. Partners who value quality and are willing to rely on expert guidance.
The construction
How do you build a movable theatre floor?
In this short video, we take you beneath the stage of the new Prinsen Theater in Delft. What you see is the impressive engineering that will soon power the movable theatre floor, a floor that literally sets the story of Willem van Oranje – De Musical in motion.
The push chains, the refined mechanical choreography and the robust steel frame together form the technical foundation of this remarkable project.
The core values of Inducon
This project brings together everything Inducon stands for.
- The courage to create a floor that moves while carrying weight.
- A passion for engineering that ensures even the largest constructions operate smoothly and quietly.
- A solution oriented mindset in a dynamic environment where wishes and requirements evolve along the way.
- Craftsmanship that guarantees perfection down to the smallest detail.
And just as important: collaboration.
With theatre makers, engineers, installers and directors. Short lines of communication, quick coordination and a constant search for how the design can be integrated even better.
Push chains
The footage shows, in accelerated motion, how the push chains beneath our construction come to life. This is Inducon’s silent strength. In a compact space, dozens of components work together to move a floor segment with absolute precision and safety. Invisible to the audience, but behind the scenes it is pure craftsmanship.
This technology forms the foundation of the movable floor that will soon play an important role in the experience of the musical. It shows how engineering and imagination fit together seamlessly, and why innovation for us is never a goal in itself, but a means to strengthen the stories we help create.
Telling the story
What truly sets this project apart
Never before has Inducon built a floor of this scale that plays such an active role in a performance. Whereas a standard movable floor is designed to remain still once installed, here the movement is the very function. It becomes a structural element in the narrative. A part of the direction. A piece of engineering that moves along with the audience.
There were moments when the team realised: this is going to be truly special. For example, when the full scale of the project became clear. Or when internal calculations and tests showed that moving under load would be possible without making any compromises on speed or safety.
The principle behind it all: together you go further
Inducon builds from a belief that runs deep within the organisation: good solutions can only be created through collaboration. By listening. By understanding what is needed, not just what is requested. By thinking one step further than others.
That is where Fluid Technology and Fluid Passion truly come to life.
-
- Technology that moves with the situation.
- A team that moves with the client.
- And a drive to create something everyone can be proud of.

Why this story needs to be told
The musical shows that technology can sometimes be the foundation for emotion. For experience. For stories that move people. And that aligns perfectly with Inducon’s vision. The ambition to create beautiful things. Things that last. Things that may not always be visible, but make a real difference.
This project shows that innovation begins with courage, trust and the ability to think further together than the standard.
